Creality has launched the CR-10 SE, its new FDM 3D printer for advanced users. The new printer solves the problem of getting the ideal first layer by performing automatic leveling at startup using multiple sensors. It also features a model cooling fan to prevent distorted overhangs and can print at up to 600mm/s.
Creality has made a name for itself over the last eight years with its reliable, high-performance 3D printers like the flagship K1 Max and the affordable Ender 3 series. Now the company is looking to continue its winning streak with the introduction of the new CR-10 SE, an FDM printer aimed at advanced users that specifically addresses some common final print quality issues while offering a significant increase in print speed compared to its competitors.
One of the crucial factors for a successful print is the correct first layer, as it literally forms the foundation for the rest of the model. There are many factors at play, but it all starts with ensuring a flat print bed. Otherwise, the extruder may scrape the bed or the first layer may have poor adhesion and come off later. The CR-10 SE solves this problem by running an automatic leveling routine every time the printer starts. By using not just one, but two sensors – a pressure sensor and the well-known CR Touch sensor – any Z-axis variations are compensated for.
The maximum printing speed is an impressive 600 mm/s with an acceleration of 8,000 mm/s2. Creality has highlighted the use of precise linear rails made of high-strength steel, which guarantee “pinpoint accuracy and stable movement” with a low coefficient of friction. The CR-10 SE also features a special fan to cool the model during printing, preventing sagging on bridges and overhangs. A direct drive extruder ensures consistent filament feed and the 60W ceramic heating element ensures a high flow rate of 32mm3/s. The CR-10 SE uses printing algorithms that “mitigate the printer’s vibrations with a G-sensor to minimize ringing or ghosting” and “optimize feed flow for less blobs and wetness.”

The Creality Cloud online platform – also available as a mobile app – provides a powerful 3D printing ecosystem and serves as a model storage and remote control/monitoring center for multiple printers. Slicing models can be created using Creality Print, a self-developed slicer. Additional hardware upgrades for the CR-10 SE, such as LiDAR, camera, laser engraver and housing, can be purchased as optional extras. These often overlooked benefits are important considerations when making your first purchase.
The CR-10 SE is not in stock yet, but will be available soon for $459 on Creality’s online store. Meanwhile, you can buy the best-selling and highly rated Creality Ender 3 V2 3D printer on Amazon
