Massivit 3D Printing Technologies (TASE: MSVT), a leading provider of large-format industrial 3D printing systems, is introducing the Massivit 5000 large-format 3D printer at IAAPA Expo Europe in Vienna, Austria this month. Visitors will have the opportunity to watch live printing demonstrations at the booth and view various sample components printed using the company’s new DIM 400 material, which provides high impact resistance as well as up to 25% faster printing speeds.
Gel Dispensing Printing (GDP), the technology behind the Massivit 5000, has been used in 40 countries to date. This unique gel-based system allows manufacturers to quickly create massive, immersive sets, environments, props and characters at up to 30x the speed of other technologies.
Visitors to the IAAPA Expo will have the opportunity to view sample models printed with Massivit’s new DIM 400 material – the strongest and most resilient of the company’s high-performance GDP materials – at the Massivit booth. DIM 400 offers high impact resistance, toughness, superior strength and up to 25% increased production speed, making it ideal for custom manufacturing of end parts, functional prototypes, geometric cores for composite layers, and large jigs and fixtures. This advanced photopolymer has high heat deflection temperature (HDT), allowing the production of large parts that can withstand elevated temperatures.
Event attendees will also experience the large build volume capabilities of the Massivit 5000 (1450 x 1110 x 1800 mm), a global leader in large format 3D printing systems for scenic manufacturing and visual communications. With the Massivit 5000, manufacturers can digitally produce full-fledged, complex creations for amusement parks, event displays, film and theater sets, and custom gaming structures in just a few hours.
Stand visitors can discover a range of new and customer projects as well as case studies, including a 3 meter basking shark head printed by France 3D – a Distri-Com Group brand – for a 2023 blockbuster film premiere campaign.
Distri-Com Group Commercial Director Thierry Clicquot De Mentq commented: “Our well-known clients and brands are constantly looking for new ways to engage their audiences with eye-catching campaigns. We acquired the Massivit 5000 3D printer to respond to this demand and expand our business services to include outstanding large format printing capabilities. With materials that are easy to prime and paint, we can now create huge 3D parts in record time and in one piece. What is important is that the printer enables us to produce 100 percent in-house and offers us almost unlimited creative possibilities in extraordinary dimensions.”
With GDP technology, large, custom parts can be printed directly at high speeds with little to no support structures and cure during printing thanks to advanced gel-based polymer materials and sophisticated slicing software. This enables waste-free, quick and precise production of intricate details and undercuts that are not achievable with traditional machining technologies. In addition, the printer has two print heads for a more efficient workflow and the ability to print with a different material on each head. The Massivit 5000 supports a wide range of purpose-built printing materials specifically tailored to the needs of the entertainment industry, including flame retardancy, high resolution and transparency.
The printer produces hollow components that allow for a wealth of artistic post-processing and effects such as animatronics, internal lighting and integrated electrics, as well as external finishes such as painting, patina effects, video mapping and vinyl wrapping.
Erez Zimerman, CEO of Massivit, stated: “We are excited to showcase our industrial 3D printer and advanced materials at IAAPA Expo Europe, especially given the increasing adoption of large-scale systems across Europe.” Manufacturers are undoubtedly looking for a faster solution for the production of full-size parts. Our latest developments in engineering-grade materials combined with high-speed printing open up new possibilities for creative building. We’re excited to bring brand new opportunities to theme parks and film and event producers committed to creating exceptional experiences, and we can’t wait to unveil these opportunities at the IAAPA Expo this month.”
