Stratasys announced the takeover of RP support (RPS) is expanding its product portfolio to include stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing systems based in the UK.
The company announced that the acquisition of RPS will provide a “complete suite of solutions across the entire product lifecycle” and expects the acquisition to “increase slightly” sales and non-GAAP earnings per share by the end of 2021.
Although Stratasys announced its entry into the stereolithography market in April 2019 with the introduction of V650 Flex, which will have a build volume of 500 x 500 x 580 mm and be supported by an open material architecture, the company has decided to acquire RPS and its SLA offering. RPS has launched two series of its NEO SLA machine. One of them is the NEO 800 with a construction volume of 800 x 800 x 600 mm and the other the NEO 450 with a construction volume of 450 x 450 x 400 mm. Both systems are open to third-party resins and provide users with access to properties such as chemical resistance, heat tolerance, flexibility and durability. They are supported by the Titanium control software.
The NEO systems are suitable for prototyping, tooling, investment casting, anatomical modeling and printing of clear aligner shapes. Many of the applications for which the V650 Flex was touted in April 2019 bring the NEO platforms under its roof. Stratasys intends to leverage its global go-to-market infrastructure – the same network that led Origin to agree to a $ 100 million deal late last year – to leverage the RPS Neo line for an expanded range of applications in the global marketplace. ‘and at the same time integrates the GrabCAD print workflow software into future versions of the product.
