How to work with a 3d pen like a pro?

Find out how to edit a 3D pen like a professional

To keep up with technical innovation, 3D printers are not only one of the most useful inventions of recent times, but also one of the most fun and engaging ever made. Even more exciting is the ability to pack all of the technology into one pen. With this pen you can express your creativity in a way you never imagined. All you have to do is know how to use them.

Just as you need to learn how to use a wand before casting spells, you also need to learn how to use that pen before deciding to translate your imagination into a 3D reality.

If you are a beginner and want to learn all about how a 3D pen works, here is a guide on how to do it.

How does it work and what can you do with it?

3D printing pen works by melting thin plastic filaments and pushing the molten plastic out through the extruded tip so you can adjust it according to your needs. Imagine a hot glue gun that works almost exactly like a 3D printing pen. The inner surface of the pen is heated until it exceeds the melting point of the plastic thread, and then it is pushed out of the opening by an electronic propeller before the plastic solidifies again.

Once you learn to use it effectively, your imagination becomes the limit. You can make anything with the molten material by adjusting it according to your needs, and you can take different approaches to do it.

Choosing the right pen

For an important exam writing, you will spend a lot of time and a fair amount of money finding the right pen so that it will work properly during the exam. So before you step into the 3D design and drawing scene, make sure you choose a good pen that won’t let you down. First, check out these features:

  • Emanation time
  • Cooling time
  • Constipation system
  • guarantee
  • R.ange of temperatures at which it operates

How do I set up the pen?

To start this super interesting experience, you first need to set up the pen.

  • Insert the plastic filament into the pen. Make sure the plastic is good quality and free of any contamination. Also, make sure it is smoothed so that friction does not hinder its flow while you work.
  • Once that’s done, turn it on to let it warm up
  • You need to choose the right temperature for the plastic to melt to the right consistency
  • Once this is done you will need to push the button for the plastic to come out. You need to adjust the speed so that the point releases at the correct speed.

Create and assemble objects

  • To design a 3D object, you first create the object’s various two-dimensional faces. Choose a clean, smooth, and level surface. Once you’ve chosen the base surface, place a surface on top of it, which could be wax paper or a solid rubber sheet, for example. You just have to make sure that the design doesn’t stick to the surface.
  • Create a focal point by extruding a small amount of product onto the surface. This is the point where you can drag and draw your sketch form.
  • After you’ve created the focal point, slowly drag the pen across the surface while continuously holding it close to it. The hotter the plastic, the better the chance it will stick to the surface.
  • Continue this process until you get the shape you want and leave it to adjust for a short time. Once the plastic has settled in the shape you want, you can slowly peel it off the paper. Be careful with this, however. To make the edges softer, you can heat the sturdy edges slightly to reset the plastic and give the product a better finish.

Smart Tip

  • Set the temperature for your filament just above the melting point (160 ° C for PLA, 106 ° C for ABS). As a result, the plastic is partially remelted and the edges become softer.

Assemble 2D to 3D

  • When you have finished creating the 2D elements, you can begin assembling them to get the result you want.
  • You should assemble the pieces lengthways or widths and then make a connection between them by adding a new strip of plastic or melting the edges a little so they will stick when glued together. It is recommended to follow the former over the later as this will ensure better strength and longevity of the 3D structure. Once you’ve finished assembling them, give them outside support for a while so that they sit perfectly in their place.

Here we go! You are ready with your creation. Even if it sounds like it, it is a bit tiring at first and requires regular practice to master. Once you become familiar with the technique of using this pen, you can make 3D sketches in the air without making 2D subparts.

You can also use this pen to improvise on pre-existing objects and modify them to your liking.
