APWORKS acquires Farsoon | FS422M-4 metal 3D printer VoxelMatters

APWORKS has selected Farsoon as the supplier of the FS422M-4 system additive manufacturing machine, accelerating the industrialization of sustainable parts production with Scalmalloy. The fact that APWORKS, one of Germany’s most advanced metal AM service providers – and inventor of Scalmalloy – has chosen to work with a Chinese-made system goes a long way towards certifying how far certain Chinese-made machines are in in relation to performance. Reliability and performance.

The Farsoon FS422M-4 system, which has a print area of 425mm x 425mm x 550mm and is equipped with 4 lasers, meets APWORKS requirements for mass production. The delivery took place on December 20, 2023 and marks a significant advancement in Farsoon’s ability to provide reliable and sustainable solutions to meet market demands for parts production.

After careful and thorough evaluation, APWORKS made the strategic decision to acquire Farsoon’s L-PBF system for additive manufacturing of metal components. “We are very pleased about this step with Farsoon. We believe this will allow us to scale our production of high-quality Scalmalloy parts in the most economical way possible,” said Jon Meyer, CEO of APWORKS GmbH.

“Over the last decade,” continued Meyer, “we have focused on developing metal additive manufacturing (AM) applications that provide added value to our customers. We design and manufacture products with the highest performance and quality, supporting customers in a variety of industries.

“Our goal has always been to expand the scope of metal additive manufacturing (AM), which is generally limited due to the economics of the process. The total cost of ownership coupled with the productivity of the AM systems we use is the most important factor in defining the application areas where we can add value.

“We believe the Farsoon FS422M-4 machine offers us a significant improvement in total cost of ownership and productivity and allows us to address applications that were not previously economically attractive

“Through this collaboration with Farsoon, we aim to further expand the scope of our business and enable more customers to benefit from the benefits of this technology,” he concluded

The joint efforts between Farsoon Europe GmbH and APWORKS GmbH go beyond the immediate transaction and focus on long-term innovation, increased production capacity, reliable and sustainable series production and the optimization of Scalmalloy processing for breakthrough additive manufacturing applications in the aerospace industry.
