AnkerDirect seeks exemption for its 3D printer

A subsidiary of Anker Innovations Technology Co. has filed a lawsuit seeking a ruling that its AnkerMake M5C 3D printer does not infringe Slice Engineering LLC’s patent.

Fantasia Trading LLC, doing business as AnkerDirect, filed the declaratory judgment action in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington on Wednesday.

AnkerDirect sells its products on Amazon.com. In August 2023, Amazon told AnkerDirect that it had received a report from Slice alleging that its 3D printer infringed Slice’s copyright for “Adaptable High-Performance Extrusion Head for Fused Filament Fabrication Systems.”

Amazon told AnkerDirect it would remove listings for the accused product…
